Travelling

Aegean Airlines operates flights to/from Kastellorizo, Friday through Wednesday.
Land at the airport, collect your luggage and take the taxi mini bus to the main town where you will be able to make your way to your accommodation.
We kindly ask that you have cash ready for payment - approximately 10 euros per person.

We recommend using FerryScanner to find tickets for boats in and out of Kastellorizo.
While different companies depart solely from Rhodes, journeys to the island from Athens Piraeus (overnight) are operated by Blue Star Ferries and dock frequently throughout the Dodecanese along the way.

New Entry Fee for Australians and Other Visa-Exempt Travellers Visiting Europe (Schengen Area)
Starting in 2025, Australians, as well as travellers from other visa-exempt countries, will need to pay a small entry fee to visit countries in the Schengen Area. This is part of a new system called ETIAS. You can apply for ETIAS online through the official European Commission website.
Make sure to apply for ETIAS before your trip!
Entry to Turkey
Visas for Turkey are required for overnight stays and must be purchased before arriving in Greece. You can apply for your visa online here.

Staying

Walking is the main mode of transport on the island however, for tourists, taxi trips to the monasteries with driver George are available and can be organised in advance.

The island offers a number of sea taxis located around the main harbour. You can speak directly with the drivers situated at the edge of the harbour to arrange visits to Plakes and St George Island once you’ve reached Kastellorizo.
Please note that there are no credit card facilities available for these services.

The island has a variety of family-run tavernas, bars, and cafes where you can sample all the delicious Greek specialties on offer!

There is one ATM on the island.
While most stores accept credit cards, it is recommended to carry euros with you for the cash-only services.
Currency in Greece is Euros and Turkey is Turkish Lira (although Euros are sometimes accepted)

The medical emergency number in Europe is 112.
Although the island has a small doctor’s surgery and a pharmacy for non-emergencies, it is your responsibility to arrange suitable travel and health insurance, including any necessary medication, and to familiarise yourself with the emergency number.
Prior to the commencement of your retreat you will be required to provide us with your emergency contact details.

Should you arrive earlier than your retreat’s start date, you are free to explore Kastellorizo at your leisure before the formal welcome on the first day of your retreat.
Alternatively, consider extending your stay by a day or two after the retreat ends. This extra time allows you to fully unwind, integrate your experience, and savour the memories of a truly special week.
